Livestock and Horses
The Western Beef Resource Committee, composed primarily of Extension beef specialists for the western states, produces a Cow-Calf Management Guide & Cattle Producer’s Library, also known as the “big yellow book.” This is a comprehensive collection of hundreds of articles on beef production, written for the cowman. Colorado State University will provide the entire contents of this library for free on their website http://www.csubeef.com/. To access the library, one needs only to register (for free) with a username and password. Almost everyone who has used this regularly updated publication has found it to be a tremendously valuable resource.
Until 2006, the book was only available by purchase. It is still available for purchase at http://www.avs.uidaho.edu/wbrc/ for those who would like to support the continued effort required to update individual fact sheets and would like to have a hard copy in their hands (or in the pickup).
